A cohort for medical technologies emerges at Centech
This new program confirms Centech as one of the world’s most effective tech business start-up accelerators
Montréal, January 17, 2018. For immediate release Richard Chénier, General manager of CENTECH, is proud to announce the creation of the very first entrepreneurial cohort dedicated to medical technologies. As of now, seven start-ups have joined the new “Med Tech” cohort. These entrepreneurs come from different sectors and will benefit from the advice and support of experts in the field. Steven Arless, successful Med Tech entrepreneur, will be tasked with supervising the founders, allowing them to benefit from his vast experience and knowledge in the field.
“With the creation of a medical technology cohort, we are responding to a strong demand in the Montréal market place,” explained Richard Chénier, Centech General Manager. “Currently, 25% of start-up companies at Centech are in this activity sphere.”
What this means is that the Med Tech entrepreneurs will be able to choose among a wide group of experts and a network unique in Montréal. They include Research Chairs at ÉTS and other major university medical institutions, Faculties of Medicine successful medical and technological company leaders and entrepreneurs. A veritable spirit of collaboration has developed between Montréal’s technical giants and the medical community, ensuring world-class support of the development of these young companies.
“This new program has concretized our vision of bringing together a concentration of the best Med Tech start-ups under one roof,” added Mr. Chénier. “We will be developing a true community of expertise in this field, here in Montréal.”
Note that Centech will not acquire any interest or equity in the companies it supports. The Med Tech cohort is open to all medical innovation entrepreneurs, no matter their origins or university affiliation. The next deadline for submitting projects is April 6, 2018.
About the Med Tech acceleration program
Lasting 12 weeks, the program lets selected companies benefit from a rigorous structure that will allow them to verify and measure the commercial potential of projects, lay the groundwork for a solid business model and understand the different dimensions that go into a successful business. A syllabus customized to provide a deep understanding of the specific issues related to this industry will be provided.
